Vienna Opera Ball, Wiener Opernball

The glamorous Vienna Opera Ball is held in the city's Opera House. The event is a tête-à-tête for some 5000 socialites from around the globe, and the highlight of Vienna's long Ball season.

For those who don't know how to waltz, there's swing, foxtrot and even an Opera Ball Disco in the basement. Those with two left feet can simply enjoy the show, as a ballroom full of couples swirls to the romantic waltzes of Johann Strauss, Joseph Lanner and Carl Michael Ziehrer.

HAIKU

Tonight the annual ball at the opera house (Opernball) is on in Frankfurt and when I was in the city centre earlier on various groups were getting ready to march or already marching to draw attention to their causes, hoping to attract the attention of some of the rich and famous coming to the glittering event.
